Diamond Tennis Bracelet Mounted on 18 Carat Gold Approximately 2.6 Carat Diamonds Attractively Detailed Good Clear Stones High Colour.
Tennis Bracelets. Given the name as such due to a 1978 US Open Tennis match when Chris Evert, the defending champion, played a strenuous rally, during which the clasp on her eternity bracelet of diamonds snapped. A search began, the diamonds recovered, and the match resumed. When Evert later walked off court for her post-match interview she was asked about the pause in play. She replied, "Oh, that was was my tennis bracelet."
Slender, flexible and unpretentious in its straight-line design, the tennis bracelet has since become a symbol of insouciant glamour.
